Trauma-Informed Therapy in Northfield, Illinois

A steady space for healing, resilience, and growth

welcome

Where resilience takes root

Like the willow tree, healing can be flexible and rooted, growing steadily through life’s changing seasons. At Willow Psychology Group, therapy is a space to slow down, feel supported, and gently reconnect with yourself.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, burned out, or carrying the lasting effects of trauma, you don’t have to navigate it alone. Here, reflection and healing happen at a pace that honors your needs and helps restore a sense of safety, balance, and growth within your life.

Therapy for those who carry a lot

Many of the people I work with are capable, driven, and outwardly “doing fine”—yet privately struggling.

You may be:

  • A high‑achieving professional carrying constant pressure, self‑criticism, or burnout

  • A healthcare worker who has learned to push through at the expense of your own nervous system

  • A military service member or veteran living with the lasting impact of trauma

  • Someone navigating anxiety, depression, grief, or a major life transition

You might be used to holding it together for others. Therapy is a space that’s focused on you.

hello there
Portrait of a smiling woman with long brown hair, wearing a light pink blazer and a black top, against a plain background.

I’m a licensed clinical psychologist with over eight years of experience helping adults work through trauma, stress, and emotional pain.

From a young age, I felt drawn to helping people feel understood and supported. Today, I bring warmth, steadiness, and curiosity into the therapy room, taking time to truly know the people I work with—not just their symptoms.

My approach is integrative and relational, blending evidence-based therapies with a deep respect for the human experience. Above all, I prioritize connection and collaboration, creating a safe space where vulnerability can naturally unfold.

I’m Dr. Maja Jakovljević.

Life Transitions

Transitions can disrupt identity, stability, and relationships—even when the change is chosen. Therapy helps you make sense of what’s shifting and move forward with greater clarity and grounding.

Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety and depression often show up as overthinking, emotional heaviness, irritability, or numbness. Therapy helps uncover what’s driving these patterns and supports meaningful, lasting relief.

Trauma & PTSD

Trauma can live on in the nervous system, shaping reactions long after danger has passed. Trauma-focused therapy helps you process these experiences while rebuilding a sense of safety and control.

High-Achieving Professionals

Therapy for high achievers focuses on perfectionism, chronic pressure, and the emotional cost of constant performance.

Grief & Loss

Grief can surface as sadness, anger, guilt, or a sense that life no longer feels familiar. Therapy offers space to process loss without rushing your healing or minimizing your experience.

Burnout & Stress

Burnout often looks like emotional exhaustion, detachment, or feeling “on edge” all the time. Therapy focuses on understanding the toll of chronic stress and restoring capacity, boundaries, and balance.

Why Willow Psychology Group?

Willow Psychology Group was named with intention.

Willows symbolize resilience, flexibility, and new growth. They survive—and even thrive—in challenging conditions by learning how to bend rather than break. This mirrors both the human capacity for healing and the therapeutic process itself.

Here, therapy is:

  • Calm and grounding rather than rushed or impersonal

  • Collaborative rather than prescriptive

  • Rooted in evidence, while honoring your lived experience

My goal is to offer a space that feels steady, welcoming, and deeply human. A place where healing can take root.

"I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become."
